This was my first book by this author and I was impressed. she writes a good story with characters that stay with you after you have finished reading.


1800's and life could get pretty rowdy on the Kansas plains. A new preacher man had just came to town, Dusty meets him and fills him in about the town of assurance as he takes him there. yep ole Dusty says the Devil has done settled in their little town and the preacher man has his work cut out for him there, Rowe feels he is up to the challange.

Soon after arriving he meets Marissa Pierce who just happens to work at "Jason's" the disreptable bar as a dancer. Her mother had worked there before her. When her mother died she asked Jason to watch after her girl not knowing how cruel he would become to her.

Marissa yearns for respectability but is scared to reach out to it, she is taunted by the townspeople who thinks she is a prostitute just because she works with Jason.

Rowe cannot keep her out of his thoughts and tells himself he is a fool to yearn for a soiled dove. What must God think of him.....

can two such people ever come together and live happily?
