"Too Rich for a Bride" by Mona Hodgson this is book #2 Sinclair Sisters of Cripple Creek

Too Rich for a Bride: A NovelToo Rich for a Bride: A Novel by Mona Hodgson

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

"Too Rich for a Bride", book @2of the series Sinclair Sisters of Cripple Creek.

I enjoyed reading this series as I have 5 sisters and know a little about sisters....

Ida Sinclair is the older one always giving advise and watching out like a mother hen over her sisters- well she really had to as they lost their Mother at a young age. I think this makes her decide to become a business woman when she is grown, she would rather think business then beaus...Ida travels to Cripple Creek where two other sisters have gone to meet husbands to marry, Yes Kat and Nell were going to be mail-order brides but things went awry in book @1.
Now Ida wishes to learn the business world from Molly O'Bryan that her sister has written her about and just knows they will get along well.
Both Kat and Nell eventually found good upstanding young men to marry and have good lives in the thriving community of Cripple Creek. It is a beautiful area sitting at the base of majestic mountains.

Upon her arrival Ida soon has two men vying for her attention, one an attorney and another a traveling preacher who is working an ice company to help his ailing father, this woman who has no interest in men seems to have caught the interest of two for her. Will this change her idea of becoming a business woman?

Tucker the traveling preacher comes to cripple creek at almost the same time as Ida because his father is ill and help is needed to keep the ice company thriving. This man has a heart for the Lord and speaks to him occasionally aloud in the streets and usually Ida is always somewhere nearby to hear him. She greatly respects him and that is surely a good beginning.

There are many ups and downs in Ida's business world as she learns from Molly and takes to Wall street like a duck to water..
Tucker has his ups and downs in learning how to make a go of his fathers ice company but has the help of a trusted employee "Otis" who has a passel of children to raise.

Ida is taken by the business world and is soon right in the middle of a castastrophe that her new lawyer friend without knowlege of many, has a few shady deals that Ida gets caught up in, can she see what is happening or will he waltz her down a lane she needs not to travel?

Mona has adventure along with romance in this story and this community is filled with loving folks that help one another and care about one another. I esp liked the character Miss Hattie, who runs the boarding house and though she never had children and lost her husband years ago I think she treats her boarders as family and everyone likes coming home to Miss Hattie's place for a good home cooked meal and great fellowship....this is one series that you will want to read and enjoy.

The Bride Wore Blue book #3 in the Sinclair Sisters of Cripple Creek by Mona Hodgson

The Bride Wore Blue: A NovelThe Bride Wore Blue: A Novel by Mona Hodgson

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

The Sinclair Sisters of Cripple Creek Series by Mona Hodgson
book #3"The Bride Wore Blue"

This is the story of the "Baby" of the family Vivian, a young woman with a will of her own and tired of being referred to as the youngest.
Vivian has made some mistakes in her life and feels she is unworthy and not "up-to" standards of her older sisters. The sisters had came from Maine to Cripple Creek in Colorado and now there will be a reunion as sister #3 arrives to join them. In books 1&2 we saw the sisters find worthy mates and marry and settle into their lives as good upstanding citizens.
This unworthy feeling gets her into a lot of trouble as you will see when you read the book. Vivian seems to go from bad to worse as she tries to find a job to support herself in Cripple Creek. She did not want to come to this small town-she wanted to be with her dad in France and pursue a career of fashion designer- from a young age she had liked to sketch and was very good at it.
When she meets the sheriff's deputy Carter Alwyn she is determined she will not get close to this man. Men are not to be trusted in her estimation.

Carter a deputy sheriff feels his job lets him bring justice when there is a wrong and he remembers his dad saving a young woman who had been kidnapped that no one else wanted to help because she came from the seedier side of life-namely a prostitute. He feels he has to stay single to protect a woman from living married to a man taking chances and possibly getting killed leaving her alone.
He first meets and sees Vivian as a sweet young innocent woman and is so dissappointed when he finds out how she has lied and has so many secrets about her life in Cripple Creek...Can he forgive her and get back that "good feeling" he had when he met her.

Mona has her job cut out for her in this book. Read and learn how by the Grace of God these two young people make amends and learn to live again -there is forgivness and Grace if you take the time to notice as the family is reunited at the end of story.

I was given this book by WaterBrook Multinoman Publishing Grp for an honest review and I loved reading and doing so...

Morning on Sandy Creek in Ga

Good morning,

As I stood on the front porch this morning letting Nikki do her thing out in the yard, I felt so at peace with the cool air and morning "Feel" like no other during the day-I thanked God for being in my life and all the things that we take for granted. I saw a sliver of a moon in the shadow of the sun coming up to start the day. I love the outdoors and seeing so many blooms on shrubs flowers and trees, I have a huge Mimosa tree that is in full bloom and the birds were flitting to and fro through the leaves from branch to branch, sometimes it appeared they were putting their little beaks into the pink blooms to drink but I dont think there is anything there except maybe some early morning dew.
Its a good morning and I hope yours is too...

Eva Maria Hamilton "Highland Hearts"

Highland HeartsHighland Hearts by Eva Maria Hamilton

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

"Highland Hearts" by Eva Maria Hamilton

Logan's years waiting for his bride reminded me of the Bible story of Rachel and Leah. Logan loved Sheena Montgomery but her father thought this young man not worthy of his daughter so he asked him to be indentured servent and learn a trade to better his position in life. I think Logan's big mistake was not telling Sheena why he was leaving and that he wanted her to wait for him..He did not though.

Sheena was broken-hearted when Logan left abruptly and she spent the next 5 yrs trying to get over him, just as she was settled in her mind that he was truly gone and she needed to get on with her life...she became bethrothed to a man she had not seen but aunt set everything up. He was wealthy and would make a good husband and father.
Before they wed Logan showed up and muddied the waters..so to speak wanting to see his Sheena and finally to be wed to the only woman he had ever loved.
Sheena must learn to trust Logan again -can she see his true Highland Heart? She is a stubborn woman -can she look past the last 5 yrs and put this other man from her life and take Logan back into her heart? The family wants her to forget Logan, her heart tells her different.

I enjoyed Eva's story and how she brought the couple together again .

"Prize of My Heart" by Lisa Norato

Prize of My HeartPrize of My Heart by Lisa Norato

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

My first book by Lisa Norato and I loved it, what a wonderful story of the larger then life Brogan Talvis-Capt'n.

Brogan lived his life looking for his "Prize of My Heart". This man had many disappointments in such a young man. He found an inner strength that let him move forward. He loved the sea and his men had total respect for him, I liked reading the passages about the sea and the nautical terms used.

He has a secret as he starts his journey, you will want to keep turning the pages hoping to learn more and more....

The Capt'n has a wife - a son - a career taking off to make him a a man of means- one to be reckoned with. Returning after a voyage he finds his home burned, wife and son now gone.

Lorena is the daughter of a shipbuilder and when Capt'n Brogan Talvis comissions a great ship to be built by her father she is destined to become acquainted with him not knowing he has an ulterior motive. but then..she and her father have secrets as well and you will be astounded to read the end of the story and learn as they learn so many truths come out.

Two lives become tangled and are changed forever by the time you finish this story. The Capt'n looks for one prize and by the end of story he has found two. you must read this wonderful authors story of intrigue-adventures and love lost and found....

I was given this book to read and review by Bethany House Publishers-a division of Baker Publishing Group. thank you ...
